Hello  DistrictWEB,

May I say what a pleasure it has been to find this fantastic web site.
As expat's originating from Warmley but now living in PERTH, W Australia both my wife and I found the trip down memory lane, LOCAL FLOODS July 1968 very interesting.

We could relate to that terrible day [and night], We lived at No 113 Bath Rd, opposite Bryse Whites timber yard, Along the back of all those propertys that backed on to Cann Woods including ours, ran a deep ditch, On the night of the storm that ditch became a river and we along with many others became victims of severe flooding, So devastating and so quick did this storm strike, we had very little chance to save possessions.

My wife was employed at the time to Danny's car sales in Bitton. His business was to suffer terribly with cars washed away off the forcourt. It was a very long time before the local community was to get back to normal.

We have often spoken about that terrible day but never did we think we would be revisiting it on my PC out here in Australia.

Regards

John & June Coulson.
